From the cab it reads as one event — power falls away, and on some faults a road speed cap follows — but underneath it is a staged response that started well before the driver noticed.

That distinction is the whole reason a truck can be derated with a full DEF tank and a filter that is not plugged. The trigger might be a sensor, a quality reading, or an incomplete regen counter rather than the component the driver is blaming.
